Welcome to Canadian Veritas Observatory website!

During the Civil war in former-Yougoslavia, a total of 60.000 Canadian soldiers were sent to the region of Balkans. Since 1992, until the present day, they performed their duties within UN or NATO led missions. Some of their stories can be found here. Some of those stories are well known, but some have been forgotten and lost from our memory. We, Canadians who gathered ourselves to launch Canadian Veritas Observatory are convinced that no man, no truth, no story should be left behind!

* Veritas – In Roman mythology, Veritas, meaning truth, is the goddess of truth, a daughter of Chronos, the Titan of Time (who has been identified with Saturn-Cronus, perhaps first by Plutarch), and the mother of Virtus. She is also sometimes considered the daughter of Zeus, or a creation of Prometheus. The elusive goddess is said to have hidden in the bottom of a holy well. She is depicted both as a virgin dressed in white and as the “naked truth” (nuda veritas) holding a hand mirror.
